School Action Group

Welcome to ‘The School Action group’ page. I have just checked my calendar and confirmed that the group has been up and running since the end of June last year. With meetings every half term and several months of ‘action’ behind us, now should be a good time to outline where we have got to!

As we communicated last year, we are a small group with our core purpose being ‘to maintain and nurture the life of the school, focusing on school improvement and to ensure positive outcomes for all children.’ The group is made up of 7 people (listed below) who, as parents, governors and staff are all key stakeholders in the school and motivated to contribute to making our school a great place for everyone. In addition, we want to ensure that local families and the broader community have the opportunity to find out about the great things we are doing at N&T and to get involved wherever possible.

As a small group, we aim to focus on issues which may not be appropriate for the governors or PTFA, but where we can have a positive impact. As an example, the group is responsible for the re-vamp of the school website - a key source of information for our existing children and families, and also our opportunity to demonstrate the broad educational experience offered at N&T. With up to date examples of recent activities the children have been involved in, a modified structure and a managed process to ensure the content is appropriately updated, our website is now stronger than ever.

Being a mixed group representing different views, we have also been able to openly discuss concerns such as the proposed Nursery, the moving of year 2 to Tredington site (as now up and running) and staff recruitment. We have delivered outputs (such as the Bus procedure), but also on a ‘softer’ level, we have agreed opportunities for involvement of the local community, formats for home/school communication and provided specific event feedback such as the Performance Metric process.

To keep our group relevant and valid, we want ‘you’ to tell us what’s going on and what we should be focusing on, so please let us know.
